Consistent service, always reliable

I've been using AIML API for months now, mostly for their Large Language Model API and sometimes the Image Generation API. This last time I needed to use the Claude 3.5 Sonnet API for a new feature, and just like before, it integrated seamlessly. The performance is consistently good, and I haven't had any unexpected issues. My usage analytics dashboard always gives me a clear picture of what I'm spending, which helps with budgeting. It's why I keep coming back instead of trying other aggregators; I know what I'm getting.

So easy to use, highly recommend

I used the Unified AI API to access some LLMs for a new project, and it was so straightforward. The documentation was clear, and I had my integration running in no time. It felt like they really thought about making it easy for developers. Definitely using them again for future work!

Good for quick LLM access

Needed to test out a few different LLMs for a side project, and this API was great. I tried the GPT-4o access and also the Llama 3.1 API through their unified key. It was nice not having to sign up for a bunch of different services. The response times were pretty good too, no real lag. Setup only took a few minutes. I'd use it again if I need more models.

can you actually use a single API key to hit all those models? like GPT-4o and then switch to Claude 3.5 without changing keys?

B Brett 1 month ago
Yep, that's the whole point. You just change the model parameter in your request, the key stays the same. Super convenient.

It's honestly the best feature. Makes swapping between models so easy for testing and development.

curious if anyone has tried their text-to-speech stuff. is it any good compared to like, ElevenLabs or something similar?

N Noor Torres 2 months ago
I've used it a bit for some quick audio snippets, and it's pretty decent for the price. Not quite ElevenLabs quality in terms of naturalness, but it's much cheaper if you're doing a lot of volume.

It's good enough for basic app integration, I think. Not as polished as dedicated TTS providers but for an aggregator, it's solid.

how does the latency feel when hitting these models through AIML API? is it noticeably slower than going direct to OpenAI or Anthropic?

S Shane Whitfield 1 month ago
From my experience, it's barely noticeable for most applications. They seem to have their routing optimized pretty well. For super real-time stuff maybe, but for typical API calls, it's fine.

Yeah, I haven't had any issues. It's usually very quick, I don't feel like I'm waiting longer than I would with the direct providers.

do they ever do student discounts? looking to build something for a uni project and every bit helps.

C Colin J. 2 months ago
I've seen some mentions of student developer discounts in the past, but not sure if it's always active. Might be worth checking their docs or sending them a quick email.

I think they do, or at least they used to. Look around their site or maybe on developer forums, sometimes codes pop up there.

hey, was thinking about trying this out for a side project. are the free credits actually useful or just a tiny amount that runs out instantly?

R Rosa M. 2 months ago
Yeah, they give you some good starting credits. I got like $10 when I signed up, which was enough to play around with a few different models for a bit.

It's not a ton, but it's enough to test out some basic calls and see how it feels. Definitely lets you know if it's worth putting some real money in.
